You are no doubt looking forward to seeing us at Solar Power International (SPI). But did you know, SPI is not just a solar show anymore. SPI, ESI & North America Smart Energy Week is the largest event in North America for the renewable energy industry, including solar, energy storage, smart energy, wind, hydrogen & fuel cells, geothermal, and EV infrastructure. For our fellow members of the OTT HydroMet meteorological division this opens up countless opportunities.

About SPI / ESI / North America Smart Energy Week

Anchored by the flagship event, Solar Power International (SPI), North America Smart Energy week brings together an extensive alliance of renewable energy leaders for four days of networking, education, and innovation that moves the industry. At this key event you can meet everyone who’s anyone in renewable energy in North America, like installers and contractors, engineering firms, architects, builders and developers, investors and financiers, i.e. the full range of industry experts, leaders, and professionals. There are ample networking opportunities and over 100 education sessions throughout the event. This robust educational program includes innovative sessions, in-depth workshops and sponsored trainings. And what’s more you’ll find both Kipp & Zonen and Lufft there to help you resolve your day-to-day measurement issues.

OTT HydroMet represented by Kipp & Zonen and Lufft

At SPI / North America Smart Energy week Kipp & Zonen will represent OTT HydroMet together with Lufft . Our combined know-how and experience enables us to offer complete solutions for your applications. We offer measuring instruments for all weather parameters that effect your plant’s performance ratio. Our smart pyranometers, compact weather stations and DustIQ soiling monitoring system can send all data directly to your site management system, using the Modbus® communication protocol. Below please find a few of our measurement solutions for your perusal.

All weather conditions and soiling monitored

If you combine Kipp & Zonen and Lufft  you get the ‘perfect set-up’ for determining the actual impact of environmental conditions on solar power generation. This set-up combines instruments for the measurement of GHI and POA irradiance, wind speed and direction, air temperature, module temperature and soiling.

WS600-UMB Smart Weather Sensor

WS600-UMB Smart Weather Sensor is a compact all-in-one weather sensor with integrated ventilated radiation protection for measuring air temperature, relative humidity, precipitation intensity, precipitation type, precipitation quantity, air pressure, wind direction and wind speed.

Highlights of this Smart Weather Sensor are: all-in-one weather sensor, low power, heater, aspirated radiation shield, maintenance-free operation and an open communication protocol. WS600 has various interfaces, i.e. RS485 with supported protocols UMB-Binary, UMB-ASCII, Modbus-RTU, Modbus-ASCII, XDR and SDI-12.

DustIQ, the revolutionary soiling alert system

Off all elements that influence a plant’s performance soiling has the largest impact. Still, cleaning all the arrays of PV panels of an average solar plant is a labor intensive and costly exercise, even if you use an automated robot system. Until now all you could do is clean your panels at regular intervals. But today there is better alternative!

DustIQ enables you to schedule a cleaning run when it is most beneficial and cost-effective.
DustIQ is a smart solution, especially in comparison with traditional systems with a reference PV panel that needs to be kept clean all the time. A clear benefit of DustIQ is that it does not require any maintenance; just clean DustIQ when you clean the arrays of solar panels it is monitoring.

GHI and POA pyranometers

Knowing the solar irradiance, both horizontal and tilted, is key to decision making in asset management and O&M. Our Smart pyranometers are a perfect match for solar energy systems as these instruments have digital signal processing and interfaces optimized for industrial data acquisition and control systems.

Stop by our booth!

The OTT HydroMet team is looking forward to meeting you. Feel free to ask any questions on your individual monitoring issues as well as on anything relating to the measurement of weather parameters. You can take a look at the instruments displayed at our booth, such as the Kipp & Zonen Smart pyranometers ranging from the highest quality used by the scientific community, to the most popular SMP10; to the RT1 rooftop monitoring system. Also on display Lufft’s integrated weather stations that combine multiple weather measurements in a small and convenient housing. But also, the single wind and precipitation sensors. Last but not least you can check out DustIQ and see how it integrates into a PV plant.
